On January 4, 2017, HDMI Forum, Inc. released version 2.1 of HDMI Specification in Las Vegas. The latest HDMI specifications support a range of higher video resolutions, refresh frequency,8K 60Hz, and 4K 120Hz included,dynamic HDR, and higher bandwidth with new 48G cables. The HDMI Specification 2.1 reverse-compatible with earlier versions, developed by the HDMI Forum Technical Team, consists of some of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computers, mobile devices, cables (Double color High speed HDMI Cable, USB cable 2 in 1, audio cables, network cables, speaker cables) and component manufacturers.
"The new specification provides a wide range of advanced functions ,enhancing the entertainment experience for consumers and providing powerful solutions for the commercial audio and video industry," said Robert Blanchard, Chairman of HDMI Forum. This is part of HDMI Forum's long-term mission: develop technical specifications for the HDMI ecosystem to cater to the increasing demand for exciting, high-performance features.
HDMI Specification 2.1 feature highlights include:
Higher video resolutions :supports a range of high resolutions and faster refresh rates including 8K60Hz and 4K120Hz for immersive viewing and smooth fast-action detail.
Dynamic HDR: It ensures that a video that is displayed at its ideal values for depth, detail, brightness, contrast and wider color gamut—on a scene-by-scene or even a frame-by-frame basis.
48G Cable: helps to perform uncompressed 2.1 version’s feature of a maximum 48gpbs bandwidth and supports 8k format HDR video. It is reverse-compatible with earlier versions and is compatible with current HDMI equipment.
EARC: supports the most advanced audio format such as object-based audio and perform advanced audio signal control, automatic inspection of equipment function included.
Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) enables 3d image processor to display images while rendering, providing more fluent and more detailed experience when playing games, reducing or eliminating lag, stutter, and frame tearing.
